Eleven-Nine and beyond

*November 9, 2016.jpg

I created this image within days of the United States' 2016 election.
Originally titled November 9, 2016, I've renamed it Eleven-Nine. The grotesque forms are a departure from the serene arrangements of my Tidings series.

In response to distress about current cultural disruption, my work has shifted. Images now include evidence of chaotic forces and disorder. I see remnants left on the shore by receding tides as delicate forms that have survived upheaval. Through this work I'm seeking reassurance from the wisdom and beauty of Nature.

Tapestry, 2017

During 2017 I spent a lot of time thinking about all the people who have enriched and made a difference in my life. Hundreds of names are woven into this image, Tapestry, created to celebrate and honor abiding friendships, brief acquaintances and chance meetings. In November I printed a limited edition using pigmented ink. Those prints became our thanks-giving holiday greeting to friends and family near and far.
